Learning to walk with God means living in the present moment. When God first called his chosen people, he led them into a wilderness and fed them with manna. God provided for each day only. Any extra the people gathered became useless. God designed it that way so his children would learn to trust and depend on him day by day and moment by moment. In times of discouragement I’ve been strengthened by how the old hymn goes: Day by day and with each passing moment, strength I find to meet my trials here. Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment, I’ve no cause for worry or for fear. He who’s heart is kind beyond all measure gives unto each day what he deems best. And remember Abraham. He too walked with God by faith. He didn’t know where he was going but he knew who he was following.
Either North or South
The rain poured all day. Soaking wet, cold and tired, we kept hiking through West Virginia wilderness. The trail head was two hours away. I was leading my first backpacking trip with a small group of junior high kids. Somewhere along the trail, Ellie, our senior high leader asked me a question. “Should we be going north or south?”
